Yesterday, June 30th, there was the celebration in the European Parliament of the 2nd Congress of the Young Democrats for Europe. The YDE, which is the youth branch of the European Democratic Party led by François Bayrou and Francesco Rutelli, elected a new Bureau to drive the organization towards ambitious political challenges in Europe

Marco Cappa (Italy) is the new President. He will be helped in his mission by three Vice President: Helene Courade (Executive - France), Donata Janusauskaite (Lithuania), Marios Kaminarides (Cyprus). The Secretary General chosen by the Congress is Miren Martiarena (Basque Country). She will be supported by the Vice Secretary General Lisa Gualtieri (San Marino). The Treasurer is Adeline Blais (France).

This team will count also on the support of an executive group that will analyse and focus on specific issues developing concrete proposals and solutions. Among them: Emiliano Fatello (Italy) for Media and Communication, coordinating the team and the New Media; Mirka Demkova (Slovakia) Environment and Energy; Alexandra Rozinska (Poland) Immigration and Schengen policy.

The congress approved the entry of new full member organizations: Mladi Europania (Slovakia), Demokraticke Forum Mladeze (Slovakia),Związek Młodzieży Demokratycznej (Poland).

Marco Cappa declared: " It´s time for a new deal. Our organization is eager to fulfill its ambition to spread democratic values all overEurope. We also want to establish a strong partnership with other democratic and liberal organizations of the rest of the world. This why it was very important the participation as a keynote speaker to the Congress of Heather Brown, Chief of Staff of the Young Democrats of America, that launched the proposal of installing a common work between YDE and YDA. We are ready for this challenge.
